The Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) was established in 1986 to enhance educational opportunities for learners with special needs. As a government institution, KISE is committed to promoting inclusivity and accessibility in education. It provides specialized services such as teacher training, assessments, therapy, and research, all aimed at improving the quality of education for persons with disabilities. Through its initiatives, KISE empowers educators and creates a supportive environment for students to thrive academically and socially.
KISE’s mission is to foster an inclusive society by developing human capital, conducting research, offering functional assessments, and creating assistive technologies. The institution also focuses on early interventions and rehabilitation services to address the unique needs of learners with special needs.
